Kausi Safaris – Explore East Africa with Confidence

4-Day / 3-Night Mount Elgon Climbing Safari

Day 1: Nairobi – Drive to Mount Elgon National Park (Kitale / Chorlim Gate)
Depart Nairobi early and drive west through the Great Rift Valley and lush farmland toward Mount Elgon National Park (approx. 7–8 hours). Arrive at the Chorlim Gate for registration, then transfer to the base camp near Kapkuro Bandas or a nearby lodge. After settling in, enjoy a short forest walk to stretch your legs, followed by dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Kapkuro – Tutum Cave Campsite (Approx. 11 km / 5–6 hrs)
Begin your trek through tropical and bamboo forests, rich with birdlife, monkeys, and occasional buffalo sightings. The trail gradually ascends through moorland to the scenic Tutum Cave campsite, a natural rock shelter used by early explorers. Set up camp, enjoy a warm meal, and rest under the stars.
Day 3: Tutum – Koitoboss Peak Summit (4,222m) – Return to Hunters Cave Camp
After an early breakfast, ascend toward Koitoboss Peak, passing alpine vegetation and open ridgelines with spectacular views of Kenya and Uganda. Reach the summit for panoramic photo opportunities and a sense of achievement. After celebrating at the top, begin your descent and overnight at Hunters Cave Camp, a sheltered forest site.
Day 4: Descend to Gate – Return to Nairobi
After breakfast, continue your descent back to the Chorlim Gate, where your driver awaits. Enjoy a packed lunch en route before beginning the scenic drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the evening with drop-off at your hotel.
