3-Day / 2-Night Lake Bunyonyi Canoe & Culture Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi – Sunset Canoe Ride
Depart from Kampala, Entebbe, or Bwindi and enjoy a scenic drive through Uganda’s southwestern highlands. Pass rolling hills, terraced farms, and rural villages before arriving at Lake Bunyonyi, known as the "Switzerland of Africa." Check in to your lodge or island retreat and enjoy a peaceful sunset canoe ride, gliding past islands and birdsong. Dinner and overnight by the lakeside.
Day 2: Island Hopping, Cultural Encounters & Nature Walks
After breakfast, embark on a guided traditional dugout canoe excursion, exploring various islands, each with its own story — like Punishment Island and Upside-Down Island. Visit local communities to learn about Bakiga and Batwa cultures, and perhaps try your hand at traditional crafts or cooking. In the afternoon, take a nature walk or simply relax with panoramic views of the lake. Overnight at your lodge.
Day 3: Morning Leisure & Return Journey
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast with lake views. Depending on your schedule, take a short hike, go birdwatching, or enjoy a final canoe paddle before beginning your return trip to Kampala, Entebbe, Bwindi, or Rwanda. Arrive in the late afternoon, marking the end of your peaceful lake escape.
